Ill fundraiser putting her heart into charity walk

A 22-YEAR-old Hucknall woman with a lifelong heart condition that leaves her short of breath is to take on a sponsored walk for charity.

VICKY ROBINSON, of Florence Street, has complex congenital heart disease, which as diagnosed when she was just five weeks old.

The illness impacts on her everyday life and restricts any physical activity.

But despite this, she is preparing to take on a six-mile walk to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

The walk will take her from her home to the Tesco store at Top Valley, where there are plans to man a fundraising stand, and back again.

The walk is on Saturday February 25 and in the evening Vicky has also arranged to hold a fundraising party at the Old Spot pub and restaurant in Arnold.

This will feature auctions and raffles packed with prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

Money raised will go the BHF’s Help A Heart campaign, which aims to raise £1.5 million to fund essential research into heart conditions.

Vicky, who is an office administrator, said: “I decided to support Help A Heart because I was born with heart disease so this charity means a lot to me.

“With the help of everyday people the charity can help save lives like mine. I hope to raise more than £1,000 for the BHF’s vital care work.”

Anyone who would like to sponsor Vicky or donate prizes to the fundraising evening should contact her on 07882 435696.
