Litter-pick to clean up Linby
THE picturesque village of Linby is to become even more attractive thanks to a litter-pick.
Members of Linby Parish Council have agreed to put on their gloves and help tidy up sections of the village.
A meeting of the council heard that large amounts of litter had built up in the culverts near the railway crossing on Wighay Road and the roundabout that joins Wighay Road and Main Street. Litter was also said to be clearly visible along the Linby Trail.
The litter-pick has been set for Monday April 6, between 6 pm and 7.30 pm.
Coun Stephen Mayes also said he would ask Ashfield District Council if the culverts could be cleared.
The re-opening of Linby's Heritage Centre, off Main Street, was also discussed. The former railway weighbridge will re-open to visitors on Sunday April 5 after a clean-up by councillors the day before.
