New fun-filled playgroup launched at church

A NEW drop-in playgroup is up and running at Farleys Grove United Reformed Church in Hucknall.

The enterprising initiative was launched as part of a move for the church to reach out to the community.

The playgroup is being run by two Hucknall mums, Liz Gretton, of Claremont Avenue, and Marie Williams-Spalding, who lives on the new Rosemoor development.

Liz has a four-year-old son, Nathan, and a daughter, Amy, who has just turned one, while Marie has a seven-month-old son, Max.

The idea for the playgroup began when the church minister, the Rev Cliff Winfield, asked Liz if she could organise an activity for parents and carers.

“I liaised with Marie and we are hoping the playgroup will really take off,” said Liz. “This is a part of Hucknall which is lacking in such provision.”

SureStart is keen to get involved with the playgroup, which meets in the church hall on Mondays.
