SEYMOUR Road Baptist Church has more under its roof than you might think.

As well as the services held at the church and community activities, there is also a second-hand shop where visitors can pick up a bargain.

Run by volunteers, the Reclothe Shop is open at different times during the week and has clothes for the whole family as well as bric-a-brac and household goods on offer.

“Reclothe has been running for about two years now but not everybody knows about it,” said parisioner Sally Wyatt, who set up the scheme with a team of volunteers.

“We wanted to publicise the shop and widen it within the community so more people can benefit from all that it can offer.

“There are many things at very reasonable prices and during these times of recession, people appreciate saving money.”

Reclothe is open Monday mornings between 10am and 12, Tuesday from 11.30-1pm and Thursdays from 9.30-11am.

Sally added: “We also hold a coffee morning on Thursdays which are very popular and well attended so you can have a browse in the shop and then have a drink after.”

Proceeds from the Reclothe scheme go back into church funds as does money made from the coffee morning.

“There is a team of volunteers who work in the shop on different days who all give their time for free,” added Sally. “They sort through the clothes and prepare them for sale.”

The Seymour Road Baptist Church Reclothe Shop are always looking for donations to replenish stock.

“We are always grateful for all contributions whether it is clothing, shoes or unwanted household items,” explained Sally.

“Next time you are having a clear out don’t throw it out bring it to the church as after all one person’s rubbish is another person’s bargain.”
