Police divers search Lincolnshire canal in case of murdered Bulwell man James Brodie

editorial image

THE SEARCH continues for murdered Bulwell man James Brodie this week as police divers search a Lincolnshire canal.

The 19-year-old is believed to have gone missing shortly after jeweller Marian Bates was shot dead during a robbery at the Time Centre, in Arnold, in September 2003.

Last month searches at Maize Farm, in East Heckington, Lincolnshire, resulted in a number of samples being sent off for further scientific tests.

Dean Betton, 32, of Raleigh Street, Radford, has been charged with James Brodie’s murder.

A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, who were also arrested on suspicion of James Brodie’s murder, remain on bail, pending further enquiries.

Specialist divers are expected to spend the week searching the canal at East Heckington.
