Police to recruit 50 new Community Support Officers in Nottinghamshire

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Police begin recruiting 50 new Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) next week.

It follows the success of a recruitment campaign to fill 150 Police Officer vacancies. The drive saw more than 25,000 visitors to the jobs page of the force’s website, hundreds of calls and more than 2,300 completed applications.

Now the Force is expecting similar interest in the PCSO vacancies. Applicants have two weeks to apply and as part of the recruitment drive, Nottinghamshire is hoping for a number of applications from under represented groups.

PCSOs in Nottinghamshire work on the front line, providing a visible and reassuring presence on the streets and tackling problems that really affect communities.

It is a paid position that can lead to a long and fulfilling career.

Although PCSOs do not have the same powers as police officers, they carry a lot of responsibility and are a critical part of the work police do.

They provide reassurance to communities, gather intelligence and protect the community, in a non-confrontational role.
