Raise a drink to the Hucknall Beer Festival

CHEERS! Hucknall will be drinking to the return of its annual Beer Festival at The John Godber Centre.

The popular event will run from Friday February 15 through to Sunday 17 and will also encompass a Farmers’ Market and Craft Fair.

With 40 different beers and ciders to sample as well as an array of jams, chutneys, nuts and craft gifts to peruse, it promises to be another successful event.

“Our Beer Festival is proving really popular and continues to go from strength to strength,” said centre manager Kim Pears. “We are building on last year’s success and expanding the number of stalls and will ensure there is plenty of beer to see us through the weekend.”

Real ale experts from Nottingham CAMRA are supporting the Ogle Street event with their expertise on beer, ordering the supplies, setting it up and serving the drinks.

Kim added: “We couldn’t do it without their help and we are very grateful for CAMRA’s support who give it free of charge.

“Funds raised from the event will go towards our building maintenace fund to continue with the programme of improvements at the centre.”

The weekend event starts on Friday at 11am until 11pm with the doors opening on Saturday at noon until 11pm with live music from 7.30pm. Sunday guests will be served from noon until 3pm.

“The festival is the highlight of our year and attracts many different people from across the district,” added Kim who has booked original and traditional folk band, No Fixed Abode, to perform. “Saturday night is the most popular time to visit because of the live band which really adds to the atmosphere.

“It is a great Hucknall event at the heart of the town.”

Entry to the event is free during the day with a £2 entry after 6pm.
