Rapist caged for 20 years
A SEX-attacker who used to live in Hucknall has been jailed for 20 years for repeatedly raping two girls.
Terence Gorewoda (49) denied eight counts of rape. But he was found guilty by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court after a two-day trial.
He raped the two young girls between 1996 and 2002.
The court heard that police launched an investigation in July 2008 after claims of serious sexual offences were made.
Gorewoda was arrested at his current home on Edward Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield in November last year. He was charged and remanded in custody until his trial.
Gorewoda's sentence will be minus the 405 days he has already served behind bars waiting for his final court-appearance.
After the case, Det Con Lynne Spurr, who led the investigation, paid tribute to the victims, who stood up to their attacker.
She said: "Their bravery throughout this case was staggering.
"The evidence they gave against Gorewoda was crucial in securing this conviction and ensuring he received the sentence he deserves.
"I would like to commend them and their families for their courage and assistance in this case."
