Recycle small old electrical appliances at Bulwell Market
UNWANTED, unused or unloved small electrical items can be reused and recycled by bringing them along to Bulwell Market tomorrow and next Friday.
Nottingham City Council has joined forces to run a marquee from 9am to 4pm on Saturday January 12 and Friday January 18 where visitors can drop off their unwanted or broken items.
Anything from toasters to juicers, vacuum cleaners to power tools can be recycled or passed on to people in need as part of the initiative.
“You can bring a whole list of household electrical goods,” said Coun Alan Clark (Labour). “Family First will test the electrical items to see if they can be reused and found a new home with people in need. If not, the items will be recycled to recover some value from them that would not happen if you put them in the green bin.
“I have a CD player that no longer works, but there may be somebody out there with the skill to repair it. If not, the parts will contain some valuable recyclable materials.”
The scheme can take any small electrical appliance including garden equipment like hedge-trimmers and small tools like drills as well as hairdryers, shavers, videos, games consoles, answering machines and hi-fi equipment.
Unfortunately large items can not be accepted this way like TVs, fridges and freezers or computers. For these items call the City Council’s free bulky waste collection service on 0115 9152000.
