Shock of man’s death in Jamaica

FAMILY members and friends of Hucknall-born Steven Hurt have been shocked by his sudden death at his home in Jamaica.

He was 33 and died from natural causes.

Mr Hurt attended Leen Mills Primary School, Hucknall, and the town’s National Comprehensive School (now the National Church of England Academy).

After leaving school, he worked at the Hucknall Safeway store and soon progressed his career to management level.

He later joined Virgin Media in Colwick and enjoyed great success, again progressing to several supervisory and management positions.

More recently, he was employed by Essex County Council and then took up a prestigious job which led to his move to Jamaica.

He was a lifelong fan of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

A close friend of Mr Hurt said: “Steven touched many lives as a friend and colleague. He travelled all over the world as part of his work and, on a social basis, he visited Las Vegas, New York, Miama, Barbados and Spain.

“But he never failed to remember his Hucknall roots, which he loved, and he regularly visited the town.”

Mr Hurt leaves his mother, Jane, his father, Michael, and a brother, Chris.

Funeral details are yet to be announced. A Facebook tribute page has been set up in his memory.
