Tattoo boost for cancer research

A WHOPPING £2,015 was raised for a cancer charity thanks to the efforts of a tattoo studio in Hucknall.

Vision Ink, of Watnall Road came up with the idea of collecting cash from customers for creating ribbon designs in differnt colours to tie in with iconic cancer-charity logos.

The studio dedicated a whole day to their charity designs and asked clients to donate at least £20 for the permanent memento.

But the artists, Scott Simms, Tez Gee and Jack Welsh, who tattooed from 9 am to 5.30 pm, were astounded by the amount raised.

And thanks to the guys’ family and friends, who helped out on the day, as well as neighbouring cafe Edibles, who kept the staff fed and watered during the marathon session, they were able to maximise their efforts.

“We were absolutely amazed and delighted with how much we managed to collect on the day,” said Kelly Welsh. “We were all shattered afterwards as it was non-stop. But it was all worthwhile when we realised we had made so much money.”

As well as bookings made in advance, people stopped by on the day to get a tattoo as well as visitors who were happy to donate without being inked.

“We have wanted to raise money for charity for a while but couldn’t decide what to do and then when this idea came up we thought we would give it a try,” added Kelly. “We are just all surprised with how successful it was.”

All the money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.
