Teen fined £540 for littering

A TEENAGER from Bulwell has been ordered to cough up more than 540 after being found guilty of littering.

The case of Paul Turton (18), of Ridgeway Walk, was among eight prosecutions brought recently by Nottingham City Council.

Turton was found guilty at Nottingham Magistrates Court in his absence. The offence took place on Thursday January 12.

The Bench ordered him to pay a fine of £300, costs of £226 and a £15 victim surcharge.

In total, the eight defendants were ordered to pay almost £3,000 in costs and fines.

Coun Alex Norris (Lab), lead member for community safety at Nottingham City Council, said: “Tackling litter is a priority. We want a clean city but the actions of a few spoil it for the rest.”
