Tweet your way to work with job tips

NEW year, new career? Make a good job of it, Tweet your way to work.

For the next four weeks, top job-seeking tips from leading local employers will appear daily on Nottinghamshire County Council’s twitter feed, @NottsCC, accessible also through www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk.

Tweets will cover a wide range of key topics, from work experience and filling out application forms to interview techniques and showing the right attitude, with some advice industry specific.

Experts tweeting will include Alexandra Bairstow of Boots UK, Beeston (21st-25th January) and Malcolm Hall of Hall-Fast, Mansfield (28th January-1 February).

Councillor Keith Girling, Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Economic Development Committee, said, “A lot of people use the new year as a motivation to look for a job, whether they are unemployed and want to get back into work or are in employment and looking for a new challenge.

“We are extremely grateful to the local employers helping us support jobseekers this way. Between them, they have interviewed hundreds of people and looked at thousands of job applications, so the advice they can offer is invaluable.”

George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, praised the campaign for giving local jobseekers the best chance of impressing potential employers.

Unemployed people in Nottinghamshire seeking work during January can get free bus travel across the county. Further information is available at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/busforjobs.
