Wet weather causes road chaos

TUESDAY’S terrible wet weather brought misery for many in the Dispatch district.

The overnight deluge on Monday and continued rain on Tuesday meant many road surfaces across the towns of Hucknall, Bulwell and beyond suffered standing water, which led to a number of smashes.

Hucknall police dealt with a higher volume of collisions than usual, including one on Beardall Street and another Watnall Road.

“In conditions like this, it is important that motorists take their time and understand that their journeys will take longer when the weather creates problems with visibility and surface water,” said Hucknall’s police chief, Insp Nick Butler.

“Drivers need to be more patient and drive according to the road conditions and leave extra time for travelling.”
