Writer brings out his first novel
HUCKNALL-born writer Jack Edmundson has just brought out his first novel, 'The Sun Sharer'.
Now living in Catalonia, Spain, Jack has parallels with Lord Byron and D.H.Lawrence, who both also left England.
But he insists that his personal exile was of his own choice because he was disillusioned with his life in Cheshire, where he had a well-paid but stressful job and a 'convenient' marriage that led to a bitter divorce.
His novel, which was published on his 56th birthday, has been billed as "the most inspiring story of love and tragedy you will ever read" and it is to be the first in a trilogy.
Jack, who was born on Carlingford Road, recalls: "My dad worked at Rolls-Royce on the Flying Bedstead, which paved the way for the Harrier jump jet. My mother was a schoolteacher and lived in the grounds of Newstead Abbey."
He claims Jack and Frances Burns, his grandparents on one side of the family, were real 'characters', Jack looked after pit ponies and Florence played Handels 'Messiah' on an organ in the front parlour.
His other grandparents, Bert and Olive Edwards, lived near Hucknall's Titchfield Park. Bert worked on the railways, tapping the wheels, and he has provided the model for one of the books leading characters.
'The Sun Sharer', brought out by Sun Sharer Publications, could be described as "alternative women's fiction". It tells an intriguing yet tragic story which questions the meaning of love, whether in marriage or in an affair.
In contrast to other books of its genre, it is a black alternative to most romances and contains a spiritual twist
