A special parade will be held in Bulwell on Monday to commemorate those who gave their lives in the First World War.

The route of the procession, starting at 10am, will be from the Bulwell Army Reserve Centre on Hucknall Lane and through the town centre to the Memory Garden on Bulwell Bogs, led by the Corps of Drums.

The Sheriff of Nottingham, Bulwell’s Coun Jackie Morris, will take part in the parade, which is to be followed at 11am by planting of poppy seeds and a service on the Memory Garden. Refreshments will be provided.

From 12noon, an Armed Forces recruitment and open day will be held at the Army Reserve Centre and this will continue on Tuesday (5th August).

There will be various display stands and a highlight will be a children’s fancy dress competition with a 1914-18 theme..
