A radio appeal seeking support for a charity event prompted Bulwell teacher Hannah Lishman to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party in support of Macmillan Curie Cancer Care.

The outcome exceeded all expectations with more than 100 people turning out at Nuthall’s Temple Centre to help Hannah, who lives in Nuthall, raise £820.

“What started out as a small fund-raiser, the most we expected to raise was around £200, turned out to be an event that exceeded all expectations and I am thrilled with the outcome,” said Hannah, who is a Year 3 teacher at Hempshill Hall Primary.

“People came from all quarters bringing with them cakes, gifts and prizes as well as saleable items for the stalls that we ran.

“I would like to thank my family, friends, work colleagues, and people in the local community who have been very generous in their support of a very worthy cause.”
