Detectives investigating a Post Office robbery believe the suspect may have discarded a black cash box as he fled the scene.
Police were called to Blidworth Post Office, in Mansfield Road, just after 12.30pm today (Wednesday 4th June) where a man had gone into the shop and snatched the box before running off.
No one was injured in the incident, no weapons are believed to have been used and a cordon is in place at the scene.
Detective Inspector Ash Wilson said: “The cash box will have been heavy so chances are it could have been dropped somewhere in the local area.
“Have you seen it? I’m asking local residents to keep and eye out for the box and to call police immediately if they spot it.
“Enquiries to trace the suspect are ongoing and there will be an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to residents.”
The man is black, about 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, and was wearing a black hooded jacket, a blue jumper or t-shirt, and tracksuit bottoms.
The cash box, which is believed to have been empty, is black and about 2ft in height.
Witnesses, or anyone with information, should call 101, quoting incident number 366 of 4 June, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
