Young swimmers from the Hucknall and Linby Dolphins Swimming Clubtook part in a sponsored event this week as part of the Byron Festival celebrations.
On Tuesday club members took part in a swim to raise money for ‘Maggies’ Cancer Charity at Nottingham City Hospital.
The challenge was to see how far they could swim in an hour.
“There were 38 members taking part with ages ranging from six to 17 and between them they swam 2,440 lengths of the pool at Hucknall Leisure Centre on Linby Road,” said chairman of the Byron Festival Committee, Ken Purslow.
“The total is the equivalent of 38 miles or one mile for each member.
“A terrific effort and although we do not yet know how much money they have raised between them, it’s fair to say it was a great effort.”
