Drop in for town scheme update

A community drop-in event in Hucknall is set for Thursday, July 28, to give people the chance to see the latest proposed changes to traffic restrictions as part of the Hucknall Town Centre Improvement Scheme.

The session takes place at the Annesley Road site office opposite Carlingford Road in Hucknall, from 1pm to 5pm and follows an initial consultation sent out to local residents and businesses.

People can comment on proposed Traffic Regulation Orders prior to them being finalised and publically advertised in August.

The improvement scheme is being managed by Via East Midlands on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council and will see the High Street pedestrianised between Baker Street and Watnall Road.

Councillor Kevin Greaves said: “The scheme aims to boost Hucknall’s high street by attracting new retailers, regenerating the town centre and helping to create a more attractive and safer place for visitors and shoppers.”

Works began in January 2016 and are expected to be completed in May 2017.

A number of junction upgrades will help reduce congestion and flood relief culvert will run under the new road.
