A young Bolsover father has thanked staff at Chesterfield Hospital for their caring efforts to save his newborn son.
Liam Dickinson (21), of New Street, was forced to call an ambulance when he and partner Danita Sheffield noticed 12 hour-old Finley was having trouble breathing.
Sadly, baby Finley died on 27th February.
Said Liam: “All the nurses and everyone were upset but they did their best - they were very supportive.
“We are grateful for their work.
“The paramedics tried to take his blood at the house but he seemed to have stopped breathing.
“I had a bad feeling when they took him out to the ambulance because they picked him up and ran.
“I was following the ambulance in the car but my mind was blank.”
Liam, a windows and doors fabricator said he and Danita (20) were holding up alright as they had plenty of family support and their three-year-old daughter Olivia was a big comfort.
Liam said he hoped Finley would be meeting his brother who also died in childbirth in heaven.
The father-to-be said the young family had prepared for their young son with baby clothes and by decorating his room.
But he added: “It is not as if we have a lot of memories of him.
“There is a lot of disappointment but we are going to try for another baby.”
