Students from Holgate Academy took part in the fundraising Race for Life event recently successfully raising money for a worthwhile cause.

The event was organised by teaching assistant Sandie Rawdin, who has been fighting a personal battle with cancer, and set up the race with help from colleagues at the school, Rebecca Morris and Karen Colman.

“I would like to pass on my huge heartfelt thanks to all who attended the race on Friday,” said Sandie. “Whether you ran or walked, volunteered, donated or cheered on, it was a terrific effort.

“It is an absolute privilege to be a part of this amazing school where so many staff and students give up their own personal time to help someone in need. You are so special.”

The event has so far collected £1,060.25 for the cancer charity.

“I am sure you are all aware of how personal this event is to me, and without your help and generosity I could not send such a huge amount to this worthwhile charity.

“I feel that without such events and fundraising my prognosis could have been so, so different.

“I look forward to next year when we can all run or walk together again.”
