Nicholas Muton, of no fixed address, climbed on to the motorway gantry board in June, forcing police to close all southbound lanes of the M1.

He was eventually arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance when he came down from the gantry at around 5pm on June 13.

He appeared at Leicester Crown Court today and pleaded guilty to the offence, when he was jailed for two years.
