A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of jewellery from a Mansfield store yesterday (Monday 6th January).

The 36-year-old man, from Nottingham, was this morning arrested on suspicion of committing a burglary at the Stamp King, in Market Street, at 12.25pm.

He is also being held on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs. He is currently being questioned by detectives and remains in police custody.

Two masked men used sledgehammers to smash through the window of the shop to snatch jewellery before making off in a grey BMW estate.

Enquiries are ongoing and police would still like to speak to witnesses or anyone who has information about the incident. Contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
