It was the end of an era as Hucknall Rotary Club said farewell to their hosts at the Horse and Groom, Linby.

In the 10 years that the club has been meeting at this venue, they had been admirably served by the management team.

Landlords Carol and David Wilson and manager David Pears were thanked by club members for the way in which they had looked after them and were wished well in their new endeavours.

The guest speaker for the same meeting was Mike Baldwin. This Mike Baldwin however was not the fictional Coronation Street character but a horticulture teacher from Derbyshire.

Mike spoke about designing and constructing exhibition gardens with his students. This can be quite costly and often requires sponsorship .

The first garden they entered at the Chelsea Flower Show was based on the 23rd Psalm. Although not in the prizes at Chelsea, they entered the same garden in the Bakewell event and won first prize.
