Parliamentors is a UN award-winning leadership programme where teams of university students of different faiths and non-religious beliefs collaborate to create social change, while being mentored by MPs.

Mr Spencer is supporting the project for the third time, this time working with students from Nottingham Trent University who chose to put together events and campaigns around cultural diversity and prejudice.

Mark took the team to the National Holocaust Centre and Museum where they were shown around by director of learning James Griffiths.

The centre, which opened in 1995 and is based at Laxton on the outskirts of Newark, is the only museum in the country dedicated to teaching and learning lessons from the Holocaust.

In its mission statement the centre describes its aims as ‘promoting an understanding of discrimination and prejudice… using the history of genocide as a model of how society can break down and emphasising how future generations must learn from these tragedies’.
