The new headteacher of the Southwell’s Minster School has said he is delighted with his appointment.

Matthew Parris, currently headteacher at Rushey Mead School, Leicester, will take up his new post in September.

Said Mr Parris “I look forward to getting to know the students and staff and to building on the existing record of outstanding achievement and success.

“I am keen to serve the school and its community by working in close partnership with all staff, governors, parents and carers, education partners and the diocese in cultivating the school’s Christian values and ensuring our students are happy, successful and achieve the very highest standards”.

Nigel Turner, Minster School chair of governors, said: “We are delighted to announce the governors’ decision to appoint Matthew as our new headteacher following a rigorous selection process.

“We were very impressed by the quality of all the candidates we interviewed and believe Matthew will be a dynamic and inspirational leader for the Minster, who will ensure every student enjoys the very best education we can provide.”

Mr Turner said the board had been impressed by the quality of all the candidates interviewed.

But he added: “We believe that Matthew will be a dynamic and inspirational leader for the Minster.

“I want to pay tribute to the school’s executive head, Phil Blinston, who retires at the end of this term after 20 years of exemplary leadership to the school.”
