A night of yoga with a difference was held recently at Papplewick and Linby Village Hall and proved an interesting evening giving students an insight into Nada yoga, presented by Northern Kirtan on their summer tour.
“Nada yoga, the yoga of sound, involves chanting mantras accompanied by musical instruments,” said Alison Columbine who runs yoga sessions at the hall on Mondays from 7.15-8.45pm. “Some of these were modern and some traditional Indian instruments.
“My usual Hatha Yoga classes are completely different where we practice relaxation, breathing exercises and yoga poses.
“There are many different kinds of yoga and each teacher will have their own style. Last year we enjoyed learning more about Scaravelli Yoga, Yin Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga from guest tutors.”
Alison also holds sessions in Hucknall at the United Reformed Church hall on Farleys Lane on Tuesdays from 6-7.15pm. She will also be running classes from the John Godber Centre on Wednesday nights soon. For more information contact Alison on 07947 154799 or visit www.columbineyoga.co.uk.
