Notts woman hit by train at level crossing

Trains are said to be running normally after in incident involving the Mansfield to Nottingham train.

Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to an incident at Minster Close/Linby Road in Hucknall, at around 1.05pm today (August 22) after a women was hit by a train.

Train delays held up the line after the incident, and the woman is said to be alive and receiving treatment at Queens Medical Hospital.

A spokesman for the force said the setting is believed to be a level crossing, and traffic was disrupted this afternoon.

Tweets went out from Hucknall MP Mark Spencer and train operators after the incident.

The Sherwood Conservative (@MarkSpencer) said: "Lady hit by (train) in Hucknall near Linby Rd. Drivers should avoid that area for now as blocked by Police vehicles. Trains affected until 4pm

East Midlands Trains (@EMTrains) tweeted at 3pm: "#EMTUpdate: Some trains between Nottingham-Mansfield are still disrupted because crew and trains are out of place after earlier disruption."

There were also reports that train tickets are being accepted on the line for the NET tram running parallel.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 12:59 today and the caller reported a person had been hit by a train in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.

"Our Emergency Operations Centre sent ambulances to the scene, including paramedics from our Hazardous Area Response Team.

"Police and fire and rescue services also responded.

"A double crewed ambulance took the patient to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where they arrived 14:01."

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 354 of August 22.
