Newstead Parish Council are stepping up the pressure for a road to be made safer.
They want to see a lowering of the speed limit on Hucknall Road from the A611 to the village.
The members are asking for an update on findings from Notts County Council’s accident investigation unit in connection with their request.
The parish council chairman, Coun Trish Wise, said: “That road needs to be changed and I don’t want us to let it go.
“There may not have been deaths from accidents there but that doesn’t make the slightest difference.
“Accidents are still happening regularly on the road and some may not be reported.”
Members voiced concern about a car being driven at hair-raising speeds through the village. If this happened again, it was agreed to note the car’s registration number and contact the police.
