Previous convictions cycle thief spared jail

An Ashfield drug user has been given a three-month curfew and community order after stealing pedal cycles.

Brian Ernest Holloway, of Elderfield Drive, Sutton, admitted stealing the cycles from retail outlets on 6th and 7th May, when he appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 21st May.

The court was told that Holloway was caught on CCTV stealing the bike in the second theft, and was pictured riding the cycle he had stolen the day before as he arrived at the scene.

Holloway, who had 19 previous convictions, also admitted two counts of possession of amphetamine. He was given a three-month curfew and a three-month community order, and told to pay £40 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
