Samworth Church Academy recently hosted its annual Dance Showcase with students from every year group performing.

The Dance Showcase was performed in front of visiting Primary School pupils and friends and families in matinee and evening performances.

Rebecca Denning, a teacher at Samworth Church Academy, said: “The performers were very committed and enjoyed sharing their work with a variety of audiences.

“The Primary schools and members of the community both commented on how professional the dancers were and how much they enjoyed watching such a wide range of dance styles.”

Dance students at Samworth Church Academy benefit from extra lessons with a professional dancer in addition to working with their own Academy dance teachers.

Jamie Thomson, of Nottingham’s ‘Ampersandance’ Company, teaches and choreographs pieces for the dancers and this has led to opportunities for students to perform alongside professionals in venues such as London’s ‘Make Space Studios’.
