Shoebox appeal for abuse victims

An appeal has gone out to Hucknall companies and organisations working within the Ashfield district to help women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse by filling a shoebox with everyday essentials.

The project is the brainchild of Ashfield District Council Domestic Violence Prevention Officer Katie Ellis, who started by asking employees within the council to donate items that could be given to those who have fled abusive homes without being able to take much, if anything, with them, as they escape.

Companies or organisation that would like to get involved should contact Katie on 01623 457402.
