Albert the alpaca and Ludo the llama had a close shave during their annual hair cut at Willow Tree Farm.

Altogether six animals were sheared at the Shirebrook attraction.

Australian shearer James Dixon carried out the task which also saw the llamas and alpacas get their hooves and teeth trimmed, in just one hour.

Managing director Adam Hind stressed the process did not cause the animals any discomfort and was essential.

He added: “If we don’t shear the fleece they could suffer from fly strike or heat exhaustion. In the wild they are rounded up and sheared each year. They do feel much better when it’s all been taken off.”

The fleece will be used to make scarves for charity.
