A Bilsthorpe woman due to start a delivery job was spared a driving ban after she failed to complete a breath test for drink driving in Mansfield, a court has heard.

Emma Louise Crowder, 33, of the Crescent, Bilsthorpe, admitted failing to provide a specimen when she appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard she was stopped on suspicion of drink driving on June 9, on Harrop White Road, in Mansfield.

Sarah Neale, mitigating, said: “She couldn’t blow hard enough or long enough. She didn’t blatantly refuse.”

She said Crowder was due to start a delivery driving job next Monday and keeping her licence was ‘vitally important to her employment.’

The court heard she was given a two-year ban for drink driving in 2009.

Magistrates put ten points on her licence, but stopped short of banning her.

She was fined £185 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £30.
