A NOTTINGHAM man is due to appear at court on Tuesday charged with murdering James Brodie, who was from Bulwell.

Dean Betton, of Raleigh Street in Radford, is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.

James Brodie, who was 19, is believed to have gone missing shortly after the murder of Ravenshead jeweller Marian Bates.

Mrs Bates was shot dead during a robbery at the Time Centre, in Arnold in September 2003.

Brodie had not made any contact with family or friends in more than nine years.

Earlier this year, searches were carried out at Maize Farm, in East Heckington, Lincolnshire.

Brodie’s body has never been found.
