Man fined after rubbish found fly-tipped

A MAN has been fined after his waste was found illegally dumped at a fly-tipping hotspot in Bulwell.

Shaun O’Hare (28), of Clipstone, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court.

Even though he didn’t dump the waste himself, he admitted failing to make sure he was using licensed waste-carriers to remove his rubbish. The junk was found on Blenheim Lane.

O’Hare claimed he had approached two young men who were looking for scrap metal — after the waste carrier he had arranged did not turn up.

But he didn’t check whether they were licensed, what their names were or what they were going to do with the rubbish.

He also failed to get a receipt for the £70 he said he had paid the men.

He was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £603.

Nottingham City Council is campaigning against fly-tipping because its costs £615,000 a year to tackle the problem.
