Mansfield Town fans can expect a friendlier, more professional approach from stewards at One Call Stadium, the club’s safety officer has said today.
The comments were made after the club announced its new stewarding contractor, Meden Events Security, ahead of the 2016-17 EFL League Two campaign.
Club safety officer Alan Lakin said the difference in customer care from stewards towards supporters would be ‘very noticeable’.
“During the past couple of seasons, we’ve noticed that the level of customer care that our crowd safety stewards have been providing to our supporters has been a little bit below the level that we’d like it to be,” said Mr Lakin.
“We have tried different ways of improving that through training, but despite this, progress wasn’t made at the rate which we would have liked.
“Subsequently, we looked for a different crowd safety steward provider.
“Following my discussions with the owners of Meden Events Security, our supporters will notice some very different customer care attitudes from the stewards.
“We want to welcome our supporters into the ground, knowing that they will be able to get necessary information from all stewards such as: what time we open, where their seat is, where first aid room is located, where to enjoy refreshments and any information on future home fixtures etc.”
Peter Neilan, director at Meden Events Security added: “We’ve looked for a working staff which is more experienced and more qualified to work in this sporting environment, to look after such a large number of people on a Saturday afternoon.
“We’re hoping to bring to One Call Stadium a more mature, professional staffing level – one which is focused on customer care and providing the customer experience which Mansfield Town Football Club demands.”
The club, along with Meden Events Security, will be closely monitoring the quality of stewarding and would welcome feedback from supporters.
