HUCKNALL and Bulwell residents wanting to take advantage of the festive season and late-night shopping in Nottingham can now benefit from an extended tram service.
Extra services have been put on by operators on Wednesday and Friday nights to coincide with the city’s late-night shopping and for night-time revellers.
From now until Friday December 21, trams will run every five minutes from The Forest to the city centre.
“Nottingham is a great place to shop this Christmas,” said Florian Le Loroux. “We’re helping to make it easy for people to get here by adding these additional services.
“One of our trams has had a festive makeover too and forms part of the BID’s Christmas advertising campaign to attract shoppers and visitors to the city centre.”
There are 3,000 spaces at five free park and ride sites across the city making it easier for shoppers without driving around looking for spaces.
The extra trams on Fridays makes it simpler for those wanting to celebrate the festive season.
Jeff Allen, Chairman of the Nottingham BID added his delight at the extra services: “It’s great news that there will be additional trams running in the lead up to Christmas in order to make it easier for people to get into the city.
“There is a wide range of shops here from top high street chains to small quirky independents; high end outlets to bargain vintage stores.
“There’s also a huge array of bars, cafes and restaurants plus a range of Christmassy on-street events and entertainment that will be taking place on Sundays to help create a festive atmosphere.”
