HUNDREDS of visitors flocked to an arts and crafts fair in Hucknall to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The event at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street was put on by Crafts By Mummies, which is the brainchild of mums Jo Shephard, of Bagthorpe, near Selston, and Cassie Adams, of Ilkeston.
The organisation arranges events to sell products, ranging from jewellery to cushions, that have been created by mums. Money from stall fees goes to charity.
Jo and Cassie set up Crafts By Mummies to boost Cancer Research UK because both have seen friends and families affected by the illness.
A total of £817 was raised at the Hucknall event last Saturday. Thirty stalls sold products ranging from oil and watercolour paintings to sculptures, fabric items, knitted products and cakes.
A raffle featuring more than 30 prizes, including hampers, tickets for Hucknall Town football matches and a food and drinks voucher for the Half Moon pub in Hucknall, raised more than £400 alone.
It is hoped to run future fairs at the John Godber Centre, which Jo described as “an excellent venue”.
She added: “This is the second fair we have run since launching six months ago and we are really pleased with how things went. We are particularly pleased with the amount that was raised.”
