A CASE in which an 18-year-old Bulwell man faces a murder charge was surprisingly switched to London this week.

Donte Grant, of Susan Drive, is accused of murdering Malakai McKenzie (19), who was shot outside a Nottingham pub.

Grant, who is also charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm, was due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday.

But the hearing was transferred at short notice to Southwark Crown Court because that was where the judge who is to conduct the case happened to be sitting.

Mr McKenzie (19) died in hospital after he was shot outside the Hubb pub in Sherwood.

Grant had previously been remanded in custody.

Three other men have also been charged with the murder of Mr McKenzie. They are Cameron Cashin (20), Ijah Lavelle-Moore (20) and Malcolm Vaughan Francis (18), and all three are from the Basford area.

They have also been charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a firearm.

They have entered not guilty pleas to the charges and a provision trial date has been set for next Monday.
