A NEW care-home in Bulwell, built on the site of a former pub, is looking to raise a glass to a steady stream of new residents in 2012.

Fairway View has been created at a cost of £3.5 million by Ideal Care Homes after the demolition of the former Golden Ball pub on St Albans Road.

The first resident to move in was 91-year-old Jessie Hodgson, who enjoyed breakfast and a cup of tea with the company’s managing director, Mark Graves.

She was also presented with a bouquet of flowers by Fairway View’s manager, Tracey Milliband.

Mrs Hodgson, who has two sons, has moved to Bulwell from Meltham at Holmfirth in West Yorkshire.

Mr Greaves said: “We never underestimate what a big step it is moving to a new environment. But I know Tracey and her team of carers will go to every length to make sure the moves for all our residents are as smooth as possible.”
