STAFF from Hucknall’s main Tesco store were inspired by the Olympics to hold a special sporting fundraiser.

The event was set up by Katie Antra and Sue Castles, who manages the optician’s at the store off Ashgate Road. It was in aid of Tesco’s charity of the year, Cancer Research UK.

“We had 100 staff involved in the event,” explained Katie. “Many took part in an Olympic torch relay.

“Meanwhile, in store children were treated to face painting and a colouring competition. Staff wore fancy dress and also spent time collecting money in buckets from anyone who wanted to donate.

“It was a terrific day and all our efforts were rewarded as we collected just over £600 on the day. I’d like to thank everyone who helped make the day such a great success.”

d we raise an amazing amount of money but everyone had a great time too.”
