THE OLYMPIC spirit was on show as Hucknall’s St Peter and St Paul’s Church held its summer fair with a London 2012 theme.
Crowd flocked to the popular church on Ruffs Drive and enjoyed a host of attractions, both inside and out.
A bouncy castle and sporting games helped entertain younger visitors and fit in with the Olympics vibe, while a cake stall, tombola and raffle helped bring in the pounds for church funds.
Ploughmans’ lunches were also popular to help boost the coffers with the final fundraising total being £677.
“It was a well attended event despite it being a drizzly day,” said the Rev Jo Stephens. “Many people dressed up in national costumes representing the countries taking part in the Olympic Games, which was the theme for the event.
“Some local businesses donated raffle prizes which we were very grateful for and the total raised was excellent, especially as the weather wasn’t great.”
Church member Rita O’Loughlin headed the organising team, helped by members of the over-60s club.
