A VILLAGE has been named on a shortlist for the second round of the Nottinghamshire Best Kept Village competition.
Linby is one of four finalists in the small villages section of the contest run by Campaign to Protect Rural England.
Over the coming weeks the four finalists from each of the four categories will be visited by the judges who will take another look around the picturesque settings to pick out the winners.
The winners of the Wilkinson-sponsored event will pick up a cheque for £125, oak and wrought iron plaques and framed certificates.
The four winners will be announced in August, and they will subsequently compete for the Best of Notts Award which is worth £1,000.
All prizes will presented at the AGM of the Nottinghamshire Association of Local Councils in October with the plaques for the prize-winning villages unveiled during sometime in the autumn.
