An Ostrich-like bird which went missing from Carlton-in-Lindrick this week has been found.

Notts Police were called to Hodsock Priory Farm in Worksop Road, Hodsock, at around 11am following a possible sighting. At around 1.55pm, the Rhea was safely manoeuvred into a trailer to be transported back to Carlton-in-Lindrick.

The bird was thought be ‘aggressive’ and people were warned not to approach it.

Police officers had been searching the Rother Valley area and surrounding land on Friday morning following a number of possible sightings.

It had also apparently been seen in the Dinnington area.

Insp Alan Easdon said: “It appears the bird has been attracted by the snowdrops at Hodsock. Thankfully, it seems to be no worse off for its adventures.”

Insp Easdon added: “We would like to thank the public for their help and support in rallying round to help us locate the bird and reunite it safely with its owner.”

“Officers would also like to thank South Yorkshire Police for its help during the search.”
