A PUB in Hucknall has swapped its focus from pints of beer to cuddly toys and story time — as part of the launch of a parent and toddler group.
The Pilgrim Oak on High Street has come up with the unusual venture, which is the brainchild of manager Peter Sverdloff and one of his team leaders, Jill Hadman.
It offers weekly sessions, on Thursday mornings, for youngsters up to the age of five and their parents.
The JD Wetherspoon pub provides free cordial drinks and biscuits for the children, as well as toys and teddies for them to play with.
The group has been promoted by word of mouth and through Facebook.
Peter acknowledges that some might think it unusual to attend a parent and toddler group at a pub.
But he said: “It is all about making the Pilgrim more welcoming to families and trying to bring people together. Most of our customers in the morning only call in for coffee and breakfast.
“So far, the response and the feedback have been very good.”
