THE island of Cephalonia in the Ionian Sea was visited by Lord Byron on his way to help the Greeks in their fight for independence from Turkish rule.
If this photo is anything to go by, the illustrious poet would surely have been reluctant to leave such a beautiful location.
Taken by Andrew Fletcher, of Bolingey Way, Hucknall, it well merits being our PICTURE OF THE WEEK.
Andrew was visiting Cephalonia with his wife, Terry, when he captured this radiant sunset while looking south along the coast.
“I am delighted with the photo, which is a fitting memento of our visit to this very special island,” said Andrew.
The photo will hopefully act as a welcome tonic after the murky and drizzly autumn weather which Britain has experienced during the past week.
Our thanks go to Andrew. Now we would like more Dispatch readers to send us their pictures. They can be of absolutely anything.
Just use your imagination.
