A PICTURE-postcard pub in Linby has been recognised as part of a national award scheme.
The Horse And Groom, on Main Street, was among the top four in two categories — best beer and best in bloom — in the Midlands and North section of the Warm Welcome Awards run by the Scottish and Newcastle pub company.
Best beer centres on the range, taste and quality of drinks, while best in bloom focuses on the look of the pub, including floral decorations.
Sadly, the Groom didn’t pick up either of the awards, which went to The Anglers Hotel in Saxilby, Lincolnshire (best beer) and the Savile Arms, Cleckheaton, Bradford (best in bloom).
But licensee David Wilson, who runs the Linby pub with wife Carole, said he was delighted to be nominated. “It is a real achievement,” he added.
