Mansfield poet Clive Brookes is to give a free illustrated talk on ‘The Pioneering Days of North Sea Oil’ at Hucknall Library next Friday (20th February) from 2pm to 3pm.
Clive worked on the North Sea as a crane operator on drilling rigs and diving barges during the 1970s and early 1980s.
He was employed on BP’s semi-submersible drilling rig, Sea Quest, which found the bountiful Forties Field. Clive says: “Some of the photos I am showing during the talk will be seen publicly for the first time.”
He documented life on the North Sea in poetic form and is well-known worldwide throughout the oil industry as ‘The Bard of the North Sea’.
